Luminita’s childhood was divided into two worlds: that of her parents in the city, where their level of education provided them with a reputable but not well-paid job; and that of her relatives in the countryside, who lived off the family business and, although it was hard, their freedom contrasted with that of her parents.
It was on holiday with her family in the countryside that Luminita received her first lessons in entrepreneurship, while at the same time enjoying a free life surrounded by nature. In those days, watching her aunts and uncles manage the economy of the farm, the desire was born in Luminita to have something of her own, something to build from scratch and to be her own boss.
However, Luminita also inherited a love for teaching from her parents and, inspired by them, she chose this career as she grew into adulthood. Luminita has nothing but good words for this profession, one she wholeheartedly admires and for which she gave her all for more than 16 years.
But, with time, Luminita also understood that being a school teacher, she was also an employee and that she was dependent on one job, something she considered a long-term risk.
Little by little, the Luminita who dreamt on her grandmother’s farm of building something of her own was reborn in her.
Luminita says that everything happens for a reason and never by chance. At the age of 13 she lost her mother to cancer, but before that, she was left with a guide and a series of advice and values. All her life, Luminita has used her mother’s wise words and values to guide her in every decision. Integrity, Honesty, Respect and helping others. With those pillars, she built the rest of her life from that moment on.
Values that Luminita used in her years of teaching and during which she acquired another one: patience.
The truth is that you learn a lot from working with children, Luminita tells us, like how to create the best environments in which to grow. Inspiring, stimulating and encouraging are better ways to create results than severity and impositions, also in business. That, and constant action, because in a world that moves so fast, you can’t stand still.
When Luminita came into contact with Network Marketing at the age of 20, she was looking for a source of income to supplement her salary. But what happened is that the more she learned about the industry, about entrepreneurship, about finance, and started reading Kiyosaki, the more that desire of hers was rekindled. Luminita’s perspective on her future as a teacher was changing.
Over the years, Luminita sold all kinds of products, improved her skills and became a great salesperson, constantly receiving awards and diplomas.
Luminita started selling some products for a cosmetics company while still teaching, but never made enough money to cover all the household expenses. She was about to stop selling the products and try another company, but what she actually ended up doing was taking her business to a bigger level: selling on a larger scale, building a team and organising events instead of just taking the catalogue to the other teachers.
Luminita started with very little, just a few posters in a coffee shop and her presentation. She set out to help other new distributors get their products to small towns where there was no courier service, filled her house with boxes of products and drove thousands of kilometres. Courier service delivered on her promises, learned to scale her business massively, had lots and lots of customers and a team of distributors who also contributed to the billing. Her business went bust three times, and she got it back on its feet four times. She learned from mistakes, failures and rejections, and kept going.
Luminita became number 1 in her country and yet she was last on the list at an international event, something that again showed her humility and perspective. Luminita met the company’s number 1 worldwide, a leader who was born on the same day as her and who inspired her greatly from that moment on. On the journey home, Luminita reflected on how to grow her business further, on success, on working with and inspiring people.
Luminita gathered her team and set new goals: over the following two months, there were hundreds of meetings to find 12 more people, 12 specific people who would create the transformation. In less than 2 years, Luminita’s team was number 1 in Europe. She had long since stopped working for the money, but was completely motivated by what she was building. She wanted to get her team into the top 15 in the world, and she did it!
Throughout her career, Luminita has had successes and failures. She herself says that this is what makes a juicy story: how boring it would be if she just said “my whole career was a complete success, and that’s it!” But she also explains that every failure is a temporary situation, from which you also learn something. There is no shame in having financial problems, but what you should not do is keep on having them and do nothing.
For Luminita, risks are everywhere, so there is no point in avoiding them. The biggest risk is to do nothing out of fear of risk, to stay in your comfort zone and watch time go by. This also applies when it is time to evaluate your work in a company.
Sometimes you have to admit that you are no longer right for a company. You no longer resonate with its values or the time has come to do something different. The decision is always difficult, but necessary. Whenever this time comes, you go back to your mother’s guidance and your values.
And Luminita’s values are never negotiable.
One thing Luminita also learned was that she should not rely on just one source of income, no matter how good it was So, she started putting eggs in different baskets, one of them being investments in digital assets, learning about Forex and exchange markets. With different eggs in different baskets, there is more income flow, financial independence, freedom and time.
But true financial freedom is being able to stop working altogether and for the income to continue: how many people can reach this level, Luminita asks.
Luminita thinks that in the digital age, more opportunities to truly achieve this goal are emerging all the time. Last October, she was in Dubai seeing an exhibition of more than 500 brands and innovators, looking at where technology is headed in the coming years.
Luminita has been preparing for a big project, and this is where she fits best. It’s not about investments, but about the potential for growth, education, access to information and tools to create passive income. And Luminita is convinced that digitalisation will continue to advance in many aspects, especially the financial ones.
The most important thing throughout Luminita’s life and for the decisions she will make in the future is, above all, to be open to change. “Many say that I was lucky… That’s right, the more open I am to change, to new information, to capitalizing it and the more I work, the more luck I have.”
This is how Luminita has built her success: by taking risks, learning, inspiring, setting bigger goals, studying the next step but never hesitating to take it.
We can’t wait to see what her next big step will be.
