The network marketing company launched the FinGreen programme, which will provide financial education to women in the region.
QNET, in its effort to expand financial education for Turkish women, partnered with the Foundation for the Support of Women’s Work, KEDV, for its abbreviation in Turkish. Through KEDV, the FinGreen programme works to address knowledge gaps, promote empowerment and financial inclusion of women and other vulnerable groups.
While 83% of men have a bank account in Turkey, only 54% of women in the country have one. On top of this, women’s salaries are comparatively lower and they are traditionally not part of the labour force.
These are figures that network marketing company QNET aims to change by empowering women through financial workshops and training sessions delivered by qualified teachers through FinGreen and KEDV.
“From wage differentials to cultural stereotypes and institutional barriers, financial challenges affect women differently than men,” states Irmak Sütçü, Marketing Director of QNET in Turkey.
Irmak Sütçü also argues that many women struggle to achieve the financial independence that will give them a decent livelihood, so programmes like FinGreen are essential to help them achieve their goals.
