Today, it stands near $170 billion. <\/p>\n\n<p>Many ecosystems that once promised to transform finance have disappeared, consolidated, or significantly reduced operations.<\/p>\n\n<p>Nevertheless, this cleanup process has not slowed the development of blockchain infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cryptocurrency Adoption Is Being Driven by Stablecoins<\/h2>\n\n<p>One of the fastest-growing segments within the crypto ecosystem is stablecoins.<\/p>\n\n<p>These digital assets, typically pegged to the U.S. dollar, are becoming increasingly integrated into global payment systems.<\/p>\n\n<p>According to McKinsey &amp; Co. and Artemis Analytics, stablecoins now account for nearly $390 billion in annual transaction volume.<\/p>\n\n<p>In addition, total stablecoin transaction volume increased by 72% during 2025, reaching approximately $33 trillion.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Traditional Companies Are Fueling Growth<\/h3>\n\n<p>The expansion of stablecoins is no longer limited to crypto-native businesses.<\/p>\n\n<p>Financial giants such as Visa and Mastercard have expanded their stablecoin settlement capabilities. <\/p>\n\n<p>At the same time, a growing number of payment companies are experimenting with digital dollar infrastructure to facilitate cross-border payments and settlements.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tokenization Gains Momentum on Wall Street<\/h2>\n\n<p>Another major driver of cryptocurrency adoption is the tokenization of traditional financial assets.<\/p>\n\n<p>The concept involves representing real-world assets as digital tokens recorded on blockchain networks.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BlackRock Leads the Trend<\/h3>\n\n<p>Launched in 2024, BlackRock&#8217;s tokenized money market fund BUIDL has become one of the largest tokenization products in the market, reaching approximately $2.4 billion in assets.<\/p>\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Nasdaq recently partnered with cryptocurrency exchange Kraken to offer tokenized stocks to investors.<\/p>\n\n<p>Today, more than $30 billion in assets\u2014including stocks, bonds, and real estate\u2014have already been tokenized.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Market Cleanup Could Signal Maturity<\/h2>\n\n<p>Tens of millions of tokens have been created over the past few years.<\/p>\n\n<p>However, according to Delphi Digital, fewer than 1,700 maintain meaningful activity.<\/p>\n\n<p>This reality highlights an important market cleanup process, eliminating speculative projects and concentrating resources on initiatives with real-world utility.<\/p>\n\n<p>For Roxanna Islam, Director of Industry and Sector Research at TMX VettaFi, institutional use cases are increasingly replacing retail speculation as the industry&#8217;s primary focus.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Infrastructure Outlasts Speculation<\/h3>\n\n<p>History shows that transformative technologies often follow a similar path.<\/p>\n\n<p>Railroads survived the failure of countless railway companies. The internet continued to expand after hundreds of dot-com businesses collapsed. <\/p>\n\n<p>In both cases, infrastructure built during speculative periods ultimately created value long after the hype disappeared.<\/p>\n\n<p>The crypto industry may be entering a comparable phase.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Future of Crypto Extends Beyond Bitcoin<\/h2>\n\n<p>Blockchain&#8217;s original promise was never limited to bitcoin.<\/p>\n\n<p>The broader vision was to create a native internet-based financial infrastructure capable of supporting payments, investments, asset ownership, and global financial activity.<\/p>\n\n<p>Today, that vision is beginning to materialize through stablecoins, tokenization, and institutional adoption.<\/p>\n\n<p>Although bitcoin remains a critical asset within the ecosystem, it is no longer the industry&#8217;s sole focal point.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n<p>Bitcoin&#8217;s recent decline has generated concern among investors, but it does not fully represent what is happening across the crypto sector.
