For more than 40 years, Jim Rohn has been dedicated to helping people around the world develop life strategies that make them see beyond what is possible. Those who have had the pleasure of listening to him know the warmth and elegance of his voice as he conveyed the ideas he believed in so strongly and which led to his global success. It is no coincidence that even after his death he is still considered one of the most influential people of today.

Today we can get to know him through his legacy. He is the author of books and audio and video programmes through which he helped motivate an entire generation to reach their full potential.

Jim Rohn’s early years.

It is easy to identify with Jim Rohn‘s success story because he started out as an ordinary person, just another citizen of the United States. Born on 17 September 1930 in Washington, he spent his childhood and adolescence on his parents’ farm in Idaho.

From an early age, Jim Rohn stood out from other children because of his ability to tell stories and captivate his listeners. Despite his charisma and quick thinking, he was never a good student. Jim was more interested in learning about life and was not comfortable in academic institutions This led him to drop out of university a year after he started. Frustrated with his fate, he turned to work.

These years were difficult for Jim Rohn. He was 25 years old and did not earn enough to support his wife and son. He went bankrupt and not knowing how to redirect his life. A feeling of anguish gripped him every day.

A very good friend of Jim, seeing him looking for ways to keep his family safe, invited him to one of Earl Shoaff’s seminars, at which point Jim’s life took a 180-degree turn.

Attracted by Shoaff’s way of thinking, Jim Rohn approached him and they began a fruitful friendship and a solid working relationship. It was he who taught Rohn everything he knew about sales, the importance of employee welfare and the vision necessary for any entrepreneur to succeed.

An Idaho farmer in Beverly Hills.

Six years after meeting his mentor, Jim had already made his first fortune It wasn’t until he moved to Beverly Hills, however, that he began to become a speaker, at which time a friend from the Rotary Club asked him to give a talk about his success story. Jim called this speech “An Idaho Farmer Comes to Beverly Hills”.

Jim Rohn did so well that time that he received more invitations and began to get paid to tell his stories and how he had achieved his goals. He began speaking to college and high school students, as well as service club members. In 1963, Jim Rohn was encouraged to launch his first seminar, becoming a pioneer of personal development and self-help, inspiring millions of people around the world.

Mark Hughes’ mentor.

One of Jim’s motivators was Mark Hughes, a successful entrepreneur who was about to form his own company in 1974. He proposed to Jim to be part of this new venture, but Jim declined the offer, as at the time he was focused on teaching seminars and courses, which he found very satisfying.

However, Mark did not give up and years later returned, with a successful business already formed, to propose to Jim to be part of it, and that time Jim agreed to join the Herbalife family.

It was with Herbalife that Jim’s message spread worldwide, reaching millions in different countries.

Jim Rohn is credited with training and motivating many people, including those who have also left their mark in the field of personal development, such as Tony Robins, Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, and many more.
